Ceramics has been my focused medium for more than a decade,
and I felt like I wanted to create something new.
I’ve been using totes that I’ve designed for a while and I was thinking,
it would be fun if I could make them available for other people as well.
So, I did!
They are now available at my shop.

The motifs on the totes originated from my sketches for ceramic works.
I chose rhino, saiga and bird, as I’ve always been fascinated by them and I feel deep connection to them.
I will save the stories behind each motif for another time, since it would be too long for this post.
Although I love creating ceramic art, it does take tremendous energy and focus so I can only create so much in a year.
With these designs, I’m excited to be able to deliver joy to more people.
I had so much fun working on these, and I aimed for something that creates positive cycle for people, animal, and Earth.

オリジナルデザインのトートバッグができました
今まで陶芸を中心に制作してきましたが、
今回新たなプロジェクトに挑戦してみました。
私自身、トートバッグが好きで自分でデザインしたものをいつも使っていましたが、
もっと多くの人にも使っていただけたら嬉しいなあとずっと思っていました。
そして、この度完成いたしました。

今回、陶芸制作でもよく登場し、私の中で一段と思い入れが深く魅了させてくれる動物たち、
シロサイ、サイガ、鳥、のモチーフを使用することにしました。
モチーフは今まで制作してきた陶芸作品のドローイングをもとに、デザインしました。
モチーフについてのより詳しいお話は、
ちょっと長くなるので、また別の機会に書こうと思っています。
陶芸アートピースですと、時間もかかり、一つ制作するのに結構エネルギーも必要なので、多くは作れません。
一方で今回のような形ですと、より多くの方に喜びをお届けできるかな、と、わくわくしています。
自分も楽しくデザインさせていただきましたが、気に入ってくださった方が使って喜べて、人、動物、地球にも優しい、そんなトートバックを目指しました。
